Why do you require a contract?  Couldn’t I just do month-to-month billing?

You will find very few, if any, professional and reliable billing services that do month to month.  Think of renting apartments.  Compare those that rent month to month versus having yearly leases.  Billing services are just like that. 

 A contract is necessary because both parties know what their responsibilities are during the course of the relationship; the costs involved so that there are no surprises, and the processes and penalties should either party terminate for cause or non-cause.  Contracts protect both parties and eliminate costly attorney’s fees in the event that the relationship doesn’t live up to the expectations of either or both parties.
