Local Entrepreneur Participates In Operation Shoebox for Soldiers Stationed In Afghanistan

Casselberry, FL November 1, 2012 – DBA , WCDB and IEPG, Inc sends more than 58 shoeboxes filled with all the comforts of home for mind, body and spirit to our soldiers overseas for the Holidays. One of the company’s employees has a son in Afghanistan so we were able to send the goodies directly to his troop.

Dozens of plastic shoeboxes were filled by the employees filled with candy, gum, canned food like ravioli, tuna and fruit cups, cookies, games, books, magazines, batteries, pre-paid phone cards and newspapers. For these brave and honorable soldiers who were not able to be with their own families on home soil this holiday season, we wanted to show our love and acknowledgement of their sacrifice for our freedom. Inga Ellzey and several of their billing clients generously donated three large cardboard boxes full of socks, lotions, sunscreen, and body wash in addition to the three large boxes for goodies.

In a moving, heartfelt letter given with each shoebox Inga shares her story and the reasons why she is proud to be an immigrant American and her gratitude for the sacrifice and service of our servicemen and women. She immigrated with her family after WWII at the age of 5. Even though her father had a limited education and resources, he proudly learned to speak English and worked hard for the American dream. He taught his three daughters the value of …”hard work, tenacity, higher education, honor, honesty and pride in oneself and country.” Inga goes on to say, “…no matter how hard I worked or how motivated or smart I was, it would have made no difference had I not been able to enjoy the liberties and freedom America affords me. I am free. I have unlimited choices.” Inga tells each soldier, “I don’t know if you are a man or a woman, I just know you are a hero. You are there, far away from friends, family and familiar surroundings, in a place of uncertainty, danger and discomfort. How honored I am to have you there on my behalf.”
